- AP courses offer students the rigor of a college level course while still having the support of a high school environment. Each AP course concludes with a college-level exam. Most colleges recognize and accept successful AP exam scores for credit, advanced placement, or both. Ionia High School weights all AP courses on a 5 point scale.
- Students take AP courses for a variety of reasons including gaining exposure to college-level coursework, the opportunity to increase a student's grade point average, to gain college credit to take with them to college, and many other reasons. We encourage students to challenge themselves with these courses while in high school. For more information on AP courses, please talk to Mrs. Morse or your counselor.
- There is no cost to take an AP course at IHS. However, the cost of the AP exam is $88 per student, per exam, each year. There is a reduction in the cost of the exam for students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. The counselors and staff at IHS will attempt to help students with unique circumstances who may be unable to afford the cost of the exams. Please see your counselor with questions or concerns regarding AP exam fees.
