Michigan Virtual Courses
Students in grades 9-12 are allowed to take up to two classes a semester through Michigan Virtual University (MVU). These online courses are taught by certified teachers and offer the same high school credits as IHS.
Pros:
- MVU offers a wider variety of elective courses that are not available at IHS
- Additional Advanced Placement options
- Offers flexibility in scheduling
Cons:
- MVU courses require a lot of self-motivation and responsibility on the part of the student in order to be successful
- Teachers are not available on site at IHS, so all communication is done via email/phone
- Additional tuition cost that must be reimbursed to the district if a student fails the course
